Sew Cool for Girls Class Details

FOR GIRLS 8 & 9

A wonderful class for girls who are 8 and 9 years old in which they will learn the art of beautiful embroidery and hand quilting. Projects will include a pin cushion, a pencil case, a quilted pin, and a string-pieced mini-quilt, a book bag, and quilted wall hanging.

SEW COOL FOR GIRLS – Year 1

Sewing ought to be fun and this class is definitely a blast for girls 9 to 15 years old! It will include the following projects: hand embroidered door knob hanger, how to use the sewing machine, napkin pillow, fleece doll hat and vest, doll shirt, doll pants, doll dress, suede doll vest and purse, "clothes for me" which include a swim-suit cover-up, shorts, skirt and sleeveless top. Kit includes all fabric and supplies except the student chooses and brings fabric for the shorts, skirt and top.

SEW COOL FOR GIRLS – Year 2

More extraordinary fun is in store for girls 10 to 15 years old in this class! These projects are useful, attractive and creative. They include a pillow case, a laundry bag, a draw-string bag, a quilted pot holder, a book cover, a doll quilt, an elastic waist skirt, pajama top, and pajama pants. Kit includes all fabric and supplies except the student chooses and brings fabric for the skirt and pajamas. Prerequisite: either Sew Cool Year 1 or previous experience with a sewing machine.

SEW COOL FOR GIRLS – Year 3

The fun does not stop yet!! Girls 10 to 15 years old will enjoy more advanced sewing projects and techniques. Projects will include garments, quilting, heirloom, polar fleece and holiday items. Students will learn how to make piping, how to make pintucks, lace insertion, putting in a zipper, set-in sleeves, darts, hems, waistbands, and more. Prerequisite: either Sew Cool 2 or previous experience with a sewing machine. Kit includes all fabric and supplies.

SEW COOL FOR GIRLS – Year 4

The fun does not stop yet!! Girls 10 to 18 years old will enjoy more advanced sewing projects and techniques. Projects will include garments, quilting, heirloom, polar fleece and holiday items. Students will learn Madeira appliqué techniques, home decor projects including throw pillows, curtains, pillow shams, and gift items such as tote bags, make-up bags, and more. Prerequisite: either Sew Cool 3 or previous experience with a sewing machine. Kit includes all fabric and supplies.

SEW COOL FOR GIRLS – Year 5

The fun gets even more fun!! Girls 10 to 20 years old will enjoy even more advanced sewing projects and techniques. Projects will include garments, quilting, heirloom, a mystery quilt, and a lacy skirt. Students will learn Madeira appliqué techniques, home decor projects including throw pillows, curtains, pillow shams, and gift items such as tote bags, make-up bags, and more. Prerequisite: either Sew Cool 4 or previous experience with a sewing machine. Kit includes all fabric and supplies except for their own personal garments that they make.

REVERSIBLE APRON

Make a darling reversible apron in one class. Students will learn how to read a pattern, lay out the pattern, cut it out and sew it all up! Some sewing experience will be necessary since there will not be time to cover use of the sewing machine in class. It is a 3 hour class for ages 10 and older.

FANTASTIC PILLOW CASE

Make a cute pillow case out of 3 coordinating fabrics. It is a great project for beginners to learn basic techniques and for veterans to whip them out quickly for gifts! This is a two hour class for ages 10 and older.

SENSATIONAL SKIRT DAY

Make a darling a-line skirt with an elastic waist, in a long or medium length. Students will learn how to layout fabric, pin the pattern, cut it out, and sew it up. This is a "bring your own fabric" class, so you'll need to have 2 1/2 yards for a long skirt and 2 yards for a shorter skirt of cotton or cotton/polyester medium weight fabric and C&C all purpose thread to match. Elastic is provided. This is a two hour class for ages 10 and older. Adults will need to get 3 yards of fabric for the longer skirt and 2 1/2 yards for the shorter skirt. Some previous sewing experience is required.

Rail Fence Quilt

Make a darling split rail fence quilt top. Students will learn the basics of quilt strip piecing! No rotary cutting required. Pieces will be pre-cut. Ages 10 years and older. Previous sewing experience required. 7 hour class (bring a sack lunch).

Open Sewing Time

You may use this time to finish those UFO's hanging around your place (Un-finished objects), or make one of my projects, or even begin a new project Use my machines, enlist my help in figuring out the pattern, or just come to sew your projects where there is a machine already set up. Reserve your space ahead of time, so I'll know you're coming. Limit 4 per class. Bring your own supplies.

Fee: $10 per 2 hour session with a minimum of two students per session

Private Lessons as schedule allows, arranged in advance, at $15.00 per hour.
